Karaula - The Border Post

An award-winning co-production of ex-Yugoslav countries released in 2006, based on the novel "Ništa nas ne smije iznenaditi" by Croatian journalist Ante Tomić, directed and written by Rajko Grlić and produced by Ademir Kenović, starring Toni Gojanović, Sergej Trifunović, Emir Hadžihafizbegović, Verica Nedeska, Bogdan Diklić and Halid Bešlić. Set in 1987 in a remote outpost on the Ohrid Lake (Yugoslav-Albanian border), film is about the commander of a small unit of the Yugoslavian People's Army (JNA), lieutenant Safet Pasic, who suffers from sexually infectious disease. In order to cover up his syphilis infection (especially from his wife) trying to find excuses not to go home, Porucnik Pasic makes up some lies about the situation and claimes that Albanian army is preparing to attack Yugoslav posts...and this false information turns to a real mess! The Border Post begins as a comedy, turns to a drama and ends as a tragedy (like Yugoslav Federation's end).
